There's a lot to do at Gnosis. Every year sees a variety of entertainment and social activities including storytelling, talks and a disco.

This year's panoply of entertainment is still being finalised. Check again soon for more details.

Storytelling

Relax with a cup, glass or your favourite drinking horn by the roaring fire and be captivated as our resident professional storyteller spins tales of myth and legend from near and far.

Disco

Saturday evening is the Gnostic Disco! Dress up to the nines and do your thing on the dancefloor or take a turn at DJ-ing. Corsets, masks, big boots, crazy hats, buckles, feather boas, waistcoats, even bigger boots...

Variety Show

This year Gnosis will host a good old-fashioned variety show - with poetry, plays, dancers, music, ghosts, cheesy sound effects and plenty of audience participation. If you've got a special talent or party piece to perform it's sure to fit right in.

Excursions

Join us for a walk in the Vale of the Tyne around the substantial castle grounds or perhaps venture a little further afield to Hadrian's Wall - the Carrawburgh Mithraum is only about 15 minutes drive away...

Talks

Every year we host a number of informative and entertaining talks for you to enjoy in the castle's relaxed lounges. Topics from years gone by include the Tarot, Alchemy, The Goetia, Freemasonry, Egyptian cat cults...

Banquet

On Sunday evening comes the climax of the weekend, an orgiastic feast of sumptuous food, wine & toasts! The Banquet is definitely the culinary high point of what is always an excellently catered weekend. No one goes hungry at Gnosis, from the full English breakfasts (with vegetarian option), through the hearty stews and scrumptious pies (with mouth-watering pastry - and I don't like pastry!) of luncheons to the warming soups of the midnight suppers.

It's cold in Northumberland in November, and whilst the castle is centrally heated, we do our best to see that all are well and warmly fed. The banquet however is the reward of Pa-Ra-Keet! Specifics of this year's menu will be available when the full menu is published, but expect the return of old favourites - Whole Roast Salmon, Beef Wellington, you get the idea... Oh, and be prepared to fight if the sticky toffee puddings are on the dessert menu again (may be banned do to previous outbreaks of violence)! Be sure to be there and be prepared to raise your glasses several times for our ever enthusiastic toast-master.
