Ritual Events
Gnosis is a magical event under-pinned by a continuous current of ritual and ceremony, from dramatic opening rites, to the Gnostic Mass and more.
The Gnostic Mass
The celebration of the Thelemic Gnostic Mass has been a central event for Gnosis over the years. Our custom made altars and ceremonial regalia find the perfect setting in Featherstone Castle's historical Blue Room. It is usually performed a few times over the weekend by experienced ritualists who are passionate about bringing the Mass to new audiences.
If you've never attended a Gnostic Mass before, Gnosis provides the perfect introduction to this sublime ritual.
Apollo & Eris - A Modern Tale
Every year Gnosis is formally opened with a special dramatic ritual to greet new friends and welcome back old ones. These typically draw on Classical themes, with an opportunity for audience participation.
This year sees the turn of a bizarre rite, firmly founded on Discordian metaphysical principles and involving three principalities: in the yellow corner - Apollo, Lord of harmony, order, and reason; in the as-yet-to-be-determined-colour (but it'll probably be sparkly) - Eris, Lady of discord, who has almost certainly come to tell us we are free, again.
Come play with gods & goddesses as we kick start the weekend's festivities with a bang, a crash and a reasonable quantity of alcohol! Toplessness - optional, slapping Allan's belly - compulsory!
An Exploration of the Goddess Babalon
This rite is a further interpretation on the ritual based on The Mass of Babalon and Pan performed at Gnosis last year. Now totally re-written & featuring 9 Goddesses from 9 different pantheons. Order and Chaos combine to bring forth ecstasy in a Priest chosen entirely at random from the participants while he is upraised through a series of interactions with the divine feminine.
Please check back regularly for updates on the rituals specific to this years event.
